Particular challenges
Drilling from a rail wagon, nightwork

As part of a geotechnical investigation in the railway sector, Simon and Sven carried out four boreholes. To monitor the perched water table, piezometer pipes were installed.

To avoid disruptions to railway operations, the drilling took place at night when no trains were running. The agile TL18geo drill rig was able to drive onto the wagon within minutes using pre-assembled ramps.

Key advantages:

  • Extended drilling time within the limited work window
  • Reduced costs due to fewer required night shifts

Outcome: 60 meters drilled in just four days, including mobilization
